Team Wilson, sailing Surprise, captured the Alpena Yngling Fleet Boat-of-the-Year honors at the annual awards banquet on October 1st.Captained by Steve Wilson and crewed by his brother, Pete Wilson, and his niece, Erin Wilson, they were 2nd in the Great Lakes Yngling Championship and 3rd in the North American Yngling Championship and were always in the top of the fleet during the regular summer racing season.In a family of winners, Erin also won the 2011 Thunder Bay Yngling Youth Championship.
2011 "Grinder" Crew of the Year Parker Wedge
Parker Wedge won the Grinder Award for most outstanding crew.Parker was the Alpena Youth Sailing Team captain and crewed aboard Anniversary, placing 4th in the Yngling North American Championship.
2011 "Flying Pig" Most Improved
Happy, sailed by Jessica, Greg and David Resnick, was voted most improved boat and were the first crew to win the Flying Pig Award.
