Gretchen Dorian was born, raised and learned how to sail and race sailboats on Lake St. Clair, Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She is now a resident of Northern Lower Michigan, near Harbor Springs. Her specialty is taking photographs of boats...any kind of boats, big, small, on water and on ice. Her photographs also reflect her discerning eye for detail that can also be found in her landscapes and wildlife photogrpahs she captures on her travels.

Her work is exhibited nationally in galleries, private collections and has been published in Wooden Boat Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Sailing World and TRAVERSE Magazine, as well as many local and regional newspapers.  She photographed the 2010 North American Yngling Championship in Alpena, Michigan.  To see more photos from that event visit:
